Steve has always been friendly, professional, has had clear open communication, presented options for how to construct and/or finish aspects of each of the 3 different projects he has completed for us. The completed quality of the workmanship is of an extremely high standard. Whether it be the 13sq 2brm investment property or our 65sq boutique home, the detail and finish has always been precise. Steve discussed any issues that arose in a very clear fashion, presented options & alternatives in how to address them, timeframes etc.
Steve was well aware of our time & business constraints and always had these options considered before meeting or talking with us. Based on positive feedback from friends and associates who had dealt with Quilliam Building, we engaged Steve on our renovation projectÊalmost 18 months before we started the work. Steve's customer service and attention to detail, even before knowing that he had been selected for our project, really gave us comfort on what was a major project for us. This involved not only significant capital outlay but also moving out for a period of 7 months as Steve and the team extensively renovated and extended our family home.
The initial meetings gave us the confidence to go with Steve's input into some of the design elements as well, in conjunction with our draughtsman and interior designer. So, when the final quote arrived, we knew that this was a true reflection of what we were after at the time. Whilst the quote wasn't the cheapest quote that we had obtained, we were convinced that it would ultimately represent the best value for money in the long run, based on the quality of other projects that Steve had run and his attention to detail and no-fuss approach which meant that we could get on with our busy lives in full confidence that he had our best interests in mind.
As the renovations started taking shape, it was evident that Steve had the respect of all that worked for him, from his own team to suppliers and sub-contractors. He wasn't afraid to call people on substandard work of over-the-top prices and more often than not, he saved us money through his knowledge of how to get the best deal out of his suppliers.
There was a standard that Steve expected the building site to be left after each day, which as the owner, gave me confidence that things were in control and that our neighbours were being looked after as well given the significant building works. When there was a subcontractor that had slipped in standards, Steve got them off our job and ensured that our need for quality work was met through an alternative sub-contractor.
Steve was also mindful of our busy schedules, often meeting us onsite well after hours or on the weekend. We also got regular updates throughout the week through email and photos that Steve had taken of the progress that had been made, so we felt really up to date.
Whilst there were variations to the amount quoted in the building contract, these were all due to changes that we had made as we went through the building process eg. Changing structural work even after others had told us that it would "probably be too late in the piece to do this", improvements on the existing part of the house that were not being affected by the original renovation plans etc.
We found Steve to be very professional in the manner he dealt with these variations, and always felt that he was trying to do the best by us. 9 months into our newly renovated home and we couldn't be happier with the job that has been done. The quality of work shows and people who go through our house often remark on this aspect, with the next question inevitably being "who was your builder"! We have (and will continue to) recommended Steve to our friends who are looking to build and have no reservation in using Steve on building projects down the track.

Our experience with Quilliam Building was fantastic and we are thrilled with the finished product. Steve's ability to translate lay person's language into builder's terms is a valuable item! This easy communication helped turn a house into our home. Attention to detail and updates to keep us in the loop were brilliant! I doubt if a week went by without Steve filling in about what stage things were at both on site and off eg windows etc . We would not hesitate to use Quilliam Building again and would recommend them to anyone, a stress free building experience!!

I would like to thank Steve for the friendly and professional manner in which he handled the construction of my new home.
Having built 4 homes in the past through other builders I would like to think that I now know a little about the process.
From the start I was impressed with the fact that Steve would contact me with regular updates on what work had been completed and what was scheduled in the coming days and weeks.
This was something I had not experienced before.
I found that Steve was aware of what was happening at all times and was always happy to answer any question that I had.
Again this was something new.
As for the standard of finish, I can honestly say that it is superior to any of my previous homes and it is obvious to me that Steve and his team of tradesmen take pride in their work.
Finally I would like to say that I will certainly be using Quilliam Building in the future should I build again and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending to anyone that they do the same.

In 2007 we started to investigate various builders to build us a house. In January of 2008 we enlisted the services of Steve Quilliam. His objective was not to build us a house but a home; something that we would be proud of and that we would enjoy living in. Being fussy owners we needed a builder that would understand what we were after and also our level of standard requirements.
Steve met this without hesitation. From the initial plans he was able to identify problems that could arise and helped us to enlist the services of a secondary draftsperson who could identify and rectify these problems. The building process can be a very stressful one and often many questions would arise. Steve was able to answer every question with accuracy and in a timely manner.
If there was one thing that we were concerned about we had no hesitation about mentioning it to Steve and he would alleviate any of our concerns.
All of the tradespeople that Steve employed for the job carried out their work to a standard that met or exceeded our expectations. Often during the process Steve had to make decisions on our behalf. In all cases he chose what he would do if it was his house, and not once were we disappointed with the choices he made on our behalf.
We have no hesitation in recommending Steve as a builder to anyone that is looking to build. The final outcome for us is that Steve and his team of people have built not just another house but something that one would be proud to call their HOME! The attention to detail that all have shown in producing this home is shown in the final product and all that have participated on the project can be proud of the work that they have done.

From Day 1, Steve gave us confidence in our selection of a building team! He shared practical advice throughout the architectural stage and completed our renovation with efficiency and a much needed sense of humour, keeping stress levels to a bare minimum.
